Have You Had YOUR Coffee Today?

There are four things I change about every three months in my home, my first floor/outside decor, my candles, my coffee mugs, and my coffee beans. Right now you would smell the fresh scent of new cut pine tree with a mix of berry holiday sparkle, you would see the stockings hung by the chimney with care, a large Christmas tree mug on the counter, and the current coffee bean, Holiday Mocha Peppermint.

As I laid in bed this morning, tucked snug under my down comforter and an extra quilt all toasty and warm, the one thing that was enticing me out of pure bliss was a steaming, hot cup of java. I believe I could without thinking every morning, slip on the slippers, sweater (I am not a robe person), and mindlessly walk to the kitchen. I check to see if there is any left overs from yesterday that I can 'nuke' for a quick fix while the fresh pot is brewing. I fill the pot with fresh water, replace the filter, and grind the coffee beans.

Being a creature of habit, as the fresh pot is brewing and my body is slowly coming to life, I click on the computer to check all of my favorite blogs, email, and then contemplate what my blog entry for the day will be. I like to blog on life so that I can experience it once in the moment and then twice in retrospect. It is a way for me to share my thoughts, much like a journal and a documentation for our family to reflect back on through the years. It also gives others an inside glimpse into my thoughts, beliefs, values, and life.

My coffee pot has a buzzer on it that alerts me, 'coffee is done. coffee is done.' I quickly jump up and fill my 'mug' of the season with fresh, steaming, hot java. Some days it is just straight up black and other days it gets a small shot of a flavored syrup, just for some kick.

I encircle my hands around my steaming hot mug and take in the aroma. I cozy back into my office where my blog for the day awaits me before my motherly duties become a priority.

Although I must admit I am by far NOT a morning person, a bit of coffee, cozy slippers, and a quiet reflection before the day begins is a WONDERFUL start to any morning!

Have you had your coffee today?
