slumber parties.

k. I am completely lost on the feather, mice tail comment.
PLEASE help!

Nice save 'naughty mother'. AND yes, Francine Rivers writes some GREAT wholesome books!

Em..sorry to say this, but it will ONLY get worse, with the loss of YOUR personal possessions. 2 girls....from experience 13 and 10, lip gloss, hair brushes, earrings, pens, desk supplies, shampoo, razors, curling irons, etc....DISAPPEAR and we are ONLY a 1/2 size away from shoes! At least ONCE a day, you hear in our house, 'Where is MY _______!!!!!!!!!'

The girls and I had our weekly slumber party last night....check out for details below. I usually cut/paste blog entries from personal to family blog....

For the last 10 years, Milo has traveled for work every week, Tuesday through Thursday. People still ask if I am bothered with his absence and I will have to admit after 10 years, one gets pretty accustomed to the weekly schedule. Ask me 8 years ago, when I had a 1 and a 4 year old and my answer was vastly different.

So the girls and I have our little 'routine' Tuesday through Thursday. Supper is simple, usually mac and cheese or in last night's case, cereal. We snuggle up on the coach to watch our favorite TLC shows (chic TV, in Milo's world). The house well lets say we let it go a bit AND we have a SLUMBER PARTY in mom's room.

Now when I sleep, I need my space, so there is ONE enforced rule that only one can sleep in the bed at a time. The other sleeps next to the bed on the couch. Over the last few months, with the onset of turning 13, I have been disappointed that Kennedy doesn't always want to participate in our weekly slumber party. Leading up to this 'change' Madison would always get Tuesday nights and Kennedy, Wednesday nights.

However last night I got LUCKY! Kennedy decided to partake once again in the slumber party and I of course welcomed it with OPEN ARMS! Madison was a bit put out given that she got the boot to the couch. So put out that she clung tight to every blanket and pillow that she could find, as she was getting pulled out of the bed. Amidst the flailing of arms and legs, I kept shouting louder and louder 'someone is going to get hurt'. And before I knew it, the kicking and screaming turned to shoving stinky feet in the other's face, to a pillow war, and evidently uncontrollable laughter.

Once the madness settled, we snuggled in said our nights and love yous and off to dream land we went. As I drifted off to sleep I couldn't believe how quickly the last 10 years have gone, then I realized that at the end of the next 10 years the slumber parties would be over. 8 years ago when I was asking myself, 'would life get any easier, caring for two small children?' In a blink, those two 'little girls' are and soon to be young ladies. Treasure this time, savor every moment because it goes by so fast.

P.S. Poker on Saturday night in Cedar Rapids....want to hang out Em?
