mom senses

Little did I know that when a child is born, the mother instantly is given highly fine tuned senses, for example eyes in the back of the head and fine tune hearing. Perhaps some may agree?

We have an ongoing battle in our house with 'moms snacks' verses 'kid snacks'. While waging war against my fat cells, it is IMPERATIVE that I have healthy, small, yet tasty snacks on hand. For at ANY moment for when the sweet tooth STRIKES, it is either that or a multiple of other goodies to satisfy the urge.

Please note, I am not against my children partaking in healthy snacks, they have plenty to choose from. However, they always seem more drawn to 'mom's stash'.

The two most popular snacks at the moment are Swiss Miss sugar free pudding cups topped with a squirt of whip cream, and 100 calorie snack packs of chocolate mint rice cakes (YUM! Thanks Em for the tip).

Yesterday after school, Madison is heading for a sugar-free jello cup and of course has to have a squirt of whip cream. As I am in the bathroom, door shut, suddenly I hear what I believe happens most every time the whip cream is dispensed. A move I have seen executed frequently at our house, by other family members.

Head tilted back, mouth WIDE open, whip cream nozzle in place. READY, AIM, FIRE and there goes 1/2 the bottle of whip cream.

As I listen to the more than a 1 second shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh of whip cream....I shout from the bathroom, 'Madison, stop squirting the whip cream in your mouth'. An immediate cease fire and pure silence comes next. She knows she has been discovered.

I smile, knowing the eyes in the back of the head, fine tune hearing elevated moms senses are at there peak. Do you thinking that our fine tune senses are in place, because we know what we did at that age and what goes around ALWAYS comes back around?

Healthy Living, pound shedding, snack hording, lean, mean, green machine!
