Since his job lay-off in December we have had some major changes in our household. After 10 years of his/her responsibilities, there has been some jostling for positions, asking the question 'who does what?', and MANY a HARD conversations. That coupled with a buckled down budget, within the inner workings of our house there has been a lot of change.
While I have added another 20 - 25 hours/week to my work schedule, he has lessened his by that much. We have had to redefine household chores, taxi driving, work schedules, and just try to figure out who goes where, when, and how it is going to happen.
While there has been some definite delegation of tasks, we also have some how managed to interweave and balance each other out even without having to say a word. After being with someone for 21+ years you find yourself thinking and saying the same things. The things that used to drive us crazy, we now welcome with grace. We know what the other needs, often times without anyone needing to say a word.
We have always joked that we were met to be in the others shoes. He is the nurturing one, I am more intense. A perfect example, is the girls have convinced him that they need a FULL made to order breakfast in the morning, eggs, hash browns, and sausage. Without batting an eye, he whips up breakfast even with a EARLY drop off at school, cleans up the kitchen, and out the
door in a suit and tie he goes. AMAZING!
AND when I go upstairs to jump in the shower, the bed will be made! I know, am I the LUCKIEST GIRL in the world? Well, not really LUCKY, just amazingly BLESSED!
Sorry, girls he is and will FOREVER be MINE! The picture might indicate that he wants YOU, but actually he ONLY wants ME! He is marked and stamped as TAKEN!
Post NOTE: I am laughing out loud right now. OK. May be the bed wasn't made and his underwear was on the floor, after I posted. But, I am still holding stake to my claim!
