Of course the month started with Carter's birthday. The birthday weekend began on Friday, April 3 was Carter's friend party. We took five of his best friends to a bowling alley close by for Cosmic Bowling, pizza, and arcade fun. Carter I think had a very good time...and we beat that impending winter weather that was fast coming. Saturday (the actual birthday), the family headed to Sioux Falls to a pancake breakfast at Caterpillar. We weren't down in Sioux Falls too long because that blizzard was headed our way. By Saturday night, the winter weather was upon us. That's one for the scrapbook "Blizzard Birthday". On Sunday (Palm Sunday)...we made our way into town for church, breakfast, which were followed by Carter's spring piano recital. He was very nervous but did an AWESOME job. Grandma and Papa made there way up, even on questionable roads. Enjoyed some DQ birthday cake and gift opening to round out the birthday week. Thanks to Aunt Jill for the birthday "tribute"...Carter was grinning from ear to ear while reading it. The whole time say "uh-huh"..."yep"..."that's right". The snow lasted a whopping 1 1/2 days and spring has tried to come ever since.
We spent our Easter weekend in Melvin with Kevin's family. His dad is on the road to recovery, and in case you haven't heard will not need any treatment. So that was good news for him. The Easter Bunny hid over 100 eggs in Melvin (ironically all in Grandma and Grandpa's yard). So lots and I mean LOTS of Easter candy!! Which was eaten by ALL! Darn those caramel filled eggs...they are just too good! We were all happy to see that the Easter bunny hadn't forgotten us in Dell Rapids...there were all kinds of yummy eggs hidden in the house when we got home. Funny...we still keep finding them!
Today I spent the day at kindergarten round-up and will do the same tomorrow. Once kindergarten round-up hits that can only mean one thing...the end of the year is fast approaching. 19 days left...if anyone is curious. {:0) Yes I will admit...I have a paperchain in my room to prove it!! Thanks Em for that nifty little idea. It is absolutely beautiful out today, almost 90 degrees outside. This year our new growing attempt is for blueberries. So we planted our four dwarf blueberry bushes this afternoon and are hoping for ripe juicy blueberries sometime in the next year (or two)!
Other than those few highlights, we have pretty much been at the same ole grind. Carter is gearing up for his publishing party at school next week. Claire is acquiring her feet back to her flip flops. And Kevin is gearing up for motorcycle weather. Yes, in case you haven't heard there is a new member (with two wheels) to the family. You'll have to email him for specific details...I am afraid I am not so knowledgeable in that area!
This weekend, it looks like cooler rainy weather and we are headed to the circus on Sunday. Hope all that are headed to the Drake Relays have better weather then us!
Take Care Everybody!
love you all...
